Interstate 10 remains closed at the Texas state line in both directions. Anyone who normally uses I-10 for travel to Texas needs to allow extra time to get to their destination.
Interstate 10 Westbound traffic is being detoured north onto I-49 in Lafayette, U.S. 165 near Iowa, and U.S. 171 in Lake Charles then west onto U.S. 190 for travel into Texas.
U.S 190 currently has light to moderate traffic volume with greater than normal truck traffic volume. Traffic is moving well.
The Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking people NOT to use LA 27 to LA 82 due to high traffic volumes and congestion during the day. LSP and the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office have observed exceptionally high traffic volumes and congestion during commute times on LA 27 in Calcasieu Parish.
Current road closures:
-LA 109 from Fields East to LA 27 due to water over the roadway.
-Interstate 10 at the Texas state line in both directions.
-LA 12 Milepost 3.5 to Texas state line due to water over the roadway.
-LA 3112 near the Sabine River due to water over the roadway.
Road closures and detours can be found using the Louisiana Traveler Information System through several different methods including the 511 phone system, www.511la.org, LA DOTD Twitter accounts, and the “Way to Geaux” smartphone application.
Depending on the method utilized, the traveler information system allows access to valuable resources such as current road reports on crashes, weather related closures, and construction as well as real time traffic camera views.
Motorists that witness hazardous road conditions and/or reckless drivers are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the nearest Louisiana State Police Troop headquarters.
