100 People Sick After Norovirus Outbreak On Cruise Around The World

A norovirus outbreak has infected 101 people aboard the AIDAdiva cruise ship during its 133-day journey around the world. The CDC reports 95 passengers and six crew members fell ill with diarrhea and vomiting. The outbreak began November 30 as the ship traveled from Miami to Cozumel, two days after departing Florida. The vessel started its global voyage from Hamburg, Germany on November 10, visiting 26 countries including the U.S., U.K., Japan, South Africa, Portugal, Mexico and Sri Lanka. Following CDC Vessel Sanitation Program guidance, crew isolated sick individuals, enhanced cleaning procedures, and collected stool samples for testing. The cruise is set to return to Hamburg on March 23. The CDC has documented 17 confirmed norovirus outbreaks on cruise ships in 2025, compared to 15 in 2024 and 13 in 2023. (Story URL)
