Taylor Swift has donated $50,000 to support a Connecticut mother who was seriously injured while helping teenagers after a car crash in Rhode Island.
The contribution was made to a fundraiser created for Ashley Taunton, a 42-year-old mother of three. Organizers said Taunton stopped during heavy rain after seeing that a vehicle carrying teenagers had hydroplaned on Interstate 95. While she was helping them, another vehicle reportedly lost control and struck her.
Taunton was seriously injured after pushing one of the teenagers away from danger. She has undergone multiple surgeries and faces a long recovery, according to information shared by the fundraiser organizers.
Swift’s $50,000 donation became the largest individual contribution to the campaign. She also left a brief message sending support to Taunton and her family.
The fundraiser was established to help cover household expenses and other costs while Taunton continues treatment and recovery.
